Forest Sector Terminology Work Project has compiled and published its second glossary section.
The starting point of the terminology work has been the subject field of forest hydrology and drainage of the Finnish-Russian Forest Dictionary whose definitions have been checked. The subject field has also been supplemented with the key concepts of the Forest Management Guidelines. The Glossary of Forest Hydrology and Forest Drainage Terms is divided into the following parts:

- Concepts related to flowing water
- Concepts related to ground water
- Groundwater discharge
- Water balance
- Forest drainage
- Ditches
- Drainage ditches
- Ditch characteristics
- Weakening of drainage effect
- Hydrological impacts of forest drainage in ditched areas
- Water-protection structures used in forest drainage
- Drainage planning
- Soil moisture conditions
- Independent concepts
The concepts of water-related land improvement measures and the broader range of concepts related to water protection have been left outside the published glossary. These concepts as well as those suggested as additions in connection with the public consultation round, will be discussed within the subsequent subject fields of the project or in other follow-up projects.
