Information about Finnish forests

Forest information materials

The forest information materials contain various data on forest resource compartments, forest harvestability and forest damages. For example, information is available on the location of various forest works on the map, the availability of forest resource information and cervid damage estimates. The information can be found on the Finnish Forest Centre’s website in Finnish and partly in Swedish.

Nature information materials

There is a variety of nature information on forest habitats of special importance, nature management, and water protection. For example, a map service is available for habitats of special importance, a tool for calculating drainage areas and statistical data on nature quality checks.

The information can be found on the Finnish Forest Centre's website in Finnish and partly in Swedish.

Information on forest use

The Finnish Forest Centre’s website also contains information on the use of Finnish forests. The Forest Use section contains information on forest use notifications to be submitted to the Finnish Forest Centre, on applications for forest management subsidies and on law enforcement tasks performed by the Finnish Forest Centre. Information is available on, for example, felling intentions calculated on the basis of forest use notifications, map services for applied subsidies, and statistical information on Forest Act enforcement.

The information can be found on the Finnish Forest Centre’s website in Finnish and partly in Swedish.

Information describing Finnish forest owners

The Forest Ownership section contains statistical information on forest owners. The statistics show, for example, the number of forest owners by municipality and their average age.

The information can be found on the Finnish Forest Centre's website in Finnish and partly in Swedish.

Information maintenance and collection

The Finnish Forest Centre collects a lot of information related to forests and nature. In addition, this information is accrued in connection with the Finnish Forest Centre’s customers’ transactions. The information maintenance section describes in more detail the collection of information, keeping it up to date and its quality for two key data groups, forest information and nature information.
