The regional forest programmes for the period 2021–2025 were published in early December 2020. The programmes are provincial forest sector development plans and work programmes and they have been prepared for 14 forest council areas.
The objectives of the provincial forest programmes arise from the regions' own development needs and the objectives of the national forest strategy. The programmes combine economic, ecological, social and cultural objectives. At the heart of the objectives is the diverse and sustainable use of forests. The forest councils monitor and promote the implementation of the programmes.
