Forestry Centres - The Finnish Regional Forestry Network

Forests are an integral part of Finnish culture and play an important role in everyday life acting as a source of inspiration for both the prosperity as well as basic survival of the Finns. The forest means more than just biodiversity; it embodies the will to survive and the spirit to change. In the minds of the Finns, the forest is still very much a sanctuary.

This respect for the forests is the key to understanding the role of the Metsäkeskus “Forestry Centre” network of thirteen regional centres, in their task of protecting a valuable national heritage for generations to come.

Expertise & Planning

Each Metsäkeskus office offers the service of drafting a comprehensive, as well as individual, forest management plan. Great care is taken to correctly emphasise or combine different aspects of forest productivity, recreational use or landscaping needs, to create a plan that represents the state of the forest today. Each plan outlines recommendations and best practise for long term care and management for the future and includes information about expenses, yield estimations, lot map and forest biodiversity data.
